Blog Roundup – 4 Months In

Hello all, it’s been a while since I posted anything! Life has been hectic lately so I haven’t had much time to write. But I wanted to do a little blog roundup of what I’ve talked about so far. I’ve had fun writing on here and hope I can continue to learn from the experience. I know there are some posts that seem to be more popular than others, which I will definitely take into account when I am writing future posts.

I can’t believe it’s already been 4 months since I started the blog. This year is going so fast! In that short 4 months we have had the Summer holidays, back to school time, Halloween and Bonfire Night. When I started this blog I wanted to write about Disney but also about our family life. Looking back on my posts I think I have a fair mixture of both subjects. Read on for my first Blog roundup.

Blog Roundup

Family Blog Roundup

I started off in July with a post about Movie Time. We love watching movies together as a family and hopefully will get lots of chance to do this over the upcoming Christmas break. What’s your family’s favourite movie to watch together?

We then headed straight into the Summer holidays, with our School’s Out for Summer post. I still can’t believe the Summer holidays have come and gone already. They seemed to go by so quickly.

I also talked a bit about some of our quieter family weekends, spent either in the garden or indoors on a rainy day. I talked about spending time in the garden in my post, Weekend Fun. Then in my Rainy Day Entertainment post, I talked about some of the ideas to keep children entertained when you’re stuck indoors with the kids. Also in our Family Time, Food and Movies post I talked about our busy few days with birthday celebrations, cinema visits and eating out. It was a lot of fun that week!

I answered some questions in a This or That post. Hopefully you all got to know a little bit more about me on this post.

Finally on the family front I told you all about our Back to School preparations. I love lists and came up with a checklist for helping to prepare for the first day back at school. It really helped us and so far we seem to be keeping on top of everything, even in the morning rush.

One big thing I have definitely learnt in these last 4 months is that blogging isn’t as easy as I thought it would be! It’s really not just about writing. There’s so much more to it than that. I’ve got so much to learn about SEO and getting my blog out there! It surprises me how much time some bloggers spend on social media, constantly sharing & promoting their work. Then there are bloggers who are actually making money from their blog! I wouldn’t even know where to start with that. For now I’m more than happy to just write for the sake of writing & sharing stories, I think if I put any sort of pressure on like that I would burn out pretty quickly.

I’d love to hear other people’s blogging stories. How long have you been blogging for? Do you have a schedule or do you just write whenever you have time & inspiration?

  1. I agree that life does get in the way of writing sometimes. I have so many ideas swirling around in my head and jotted down in different places around the house, but my day job (teaching) pays the bills. Plus, we’re heading into the Christmas season, and I’ve started making wreaths for the farm. Today I left the house at 6:15 a.m. and got home at 7:45 p.m. I still have papers to grade, bows to make, and berries to wire, but all I want to do is write…

    1. It’s hard isn’t it! In between working full time, school runs & other children’s activities, seeing family & friends, I want to write more but don’t always have the time.

  2. I enjoyed reading your Blog Roundup.
I’ve been blogging for 5 months. I started on another platform that was complicated and difficult to understand. It was frustrating to have to switch everything over to WordPress, but it has been worth it.
It is not always easy for me sit down to write a blog entry. Family comes first. I write when I can, and put everything into it. I went through a period of feeling guilty when I couldn’t find the time to write, but I realized that I could only do so much in one day.
I do believe that one day I will have a consistent schedule, but until then I’ll keep writing and enjoying the process. 🙂

    1. Yes that’s exactly where I am at the moment, writing when I can & just working it around family life. I’m sure one day it will all slot into place & I will find it becoming part of my regular routine. Good to hear you are enjoying it, I think that is the key to keeping it going 😊 Good luck to you.
